8 Variations of Nipple Shapes, Which is the Most Suitable?
Every woman has a unique and different breast shape and size. However, did you know that the same thing applies to the nipples?
According to Dr. Tsippora Shainhouse, MD, a dermatologist and pediatrician, there are eight types of nipples that are most commonly found in women. All types of nipples are normal, there are even women who have two different types of nipples.
However, all women basically have unique and different types of nipples. So, you don't have to worry if the shape or size of your nipples doesn't fit into this category.
Quoted from the Seventeen page, here are the eight most common types of nipples in women.
1. Protruding
This type of nipple can be seen from the shape of the nipple that looks higher than the base of the areola. In addition, usually the nipple will look inclined to point outwards. When the weather is cold or stimulated, usually the nipple will harden and look more defined.
2. Flat
Just as the name suggests, which is flat or flat, this type of nipple is characterized by a flat nipple that appears to be one with the areola. However, just like normal nipples, they will appear more pronounced when they harden due to cold weather or are stimulated.
3. Puffy
The shape of the 'puffy' nipple is seen from the entire areola and the nipple that looks protruding to the right and left side at the end of the breast. This type of nipple will of course also harden in cold temperatures and when stimulated.
4. Inverted
Often wonder why the nipples tend to go inward? This indicates that you have an inverted nipple, which is the type of nipple that tends to appear hidden in the areola.
Usually, women who have this type of nipple will easily pull their nipples out using their fingers. But sometimes, the muscles in the nipple can be too tight and make the nipple difficult to pull out.
5. Unilateral inverted
Similar to the previous type, this type of nipple can also be seen from the nipple hidden between the areola. However, the hidden nipple is only one of the two nipples, while the other nipple still sticks out.
