Dangerous content in instant noodles for pregnant women


The seasoning in instant noodles contains high salt or sodium if consumed in excess, especially for pregnant women, which can increase the risk of hypertension.

The content of MSG (monosodium glutamate) in instant noodles is often used as a flavoring in food. This high salt content is not good for consumption in excess.


According to the Association of Indonesian Clinical Nutrition Specialists (PDGKI), the consumption of MSG in a day should not exceed 10 mg/kgBW or 0.1 gram/kgBW. That is, if a person's weight is 60 kilograms, then the daily consumption of MSG is 6 grams or half a teaspoon a day.

Not only instant noodles, all foods high in MSG should indeed be limited by pregnant women. Consumption of excessive salt during pregnancy can cause blood pressure to increase and the risk of causing preeclampsia.
